Health With Care Thailand Dental Volunteer Trip October 2024
🌿"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." [Sir Winston Churchill]🌿
Our 1st overseas trip as a family of 3 was extra special as it was also the 1st overseas volunteer project we organised under our B2A Culture banner 💙 Thank you to the 15 amazing dentists & oral health therapists who not only signed up to see the beautiful sights in Northern Thailand, clock up some CPDs, & deliver OH packs via elephant 🐘, but also came prepared to serve, prepared to care, & prepared to use your dental talents 👨⚕👩⚕ to help over 440 adults & children who do not have regular access to healthcare. 🫶
Thank you for trusting us through this journey, from answering a little post I made at the end of last year on Facebook 🤩, communicating virtually through social media & emails 💌, then meeting at the airport in Thailand for the 1st time 🫂, we are grateful to have journeyed with you not only through our Thailand experience 🏞, but look forward to supporting each other in this roller coaster called life as dear friends. 🌅🥰
Thank you for helping Nick & I navigate the journey as new parents🙏 (we totally did not realise how much more luggage / baby related gear we would have to bring when we 1st planned the trip 💪) & embracing baby Jeddy throughout the trip as super fun adopted aunties & uncles 🥳 (Jeddy misses you all & has been complaining about how boring we are at home today 😂👶)
Special thanks to our wonderful Thailand coordinators 😇 & the massive team of local volunteers & staff from our partnering NFPs who helped make this trip possible! 🙏 (especially while I was busy being pregnant & giving birth🤰)
It is no easy feat to set up 10 dental units & sterilisers in the mountains, look after, feed, entertain & transport a huge bunch of Australians around safely 🚌... plus gather enough local translators & patients to facilitate a productive time during the volunteering days! 💃🕺
We can't thank you enough for all your hard work in the background & look forward to partnering together for future opportunities to provide healthcare, with care, to those in need,❤️🩹as well as help more health professionals in Australia journey beyond the comforts of our lucky country, to gain perspective & purpose in the way we practice & live. 🇦🇺
Thank you to supportive friends who prayed for us throughout our preparation & journey 🙏, & the ADA Dental Health Foundation , Colgate & SDI Australia for the generous donation of dental materials & OH packs to support the Thailand team in their work to continually provide care to those who cannot access dental care readily. 🪥📦
